Fabric Walling

What can be a more luxurious way to finish a room than wrapping it with a beautiful fabric to create your very own comfort zone? Polly Granville is now able to offer this extremely high-end and contemporary alternative to traditional wall coverings. We provide a range of options, including complete room installations, striking feature walls or ceilings, walk-in wardrobes, and individual framed panels.

Imagine transforming your walls with a seamless, tailored finish that surpasses traditional wallpaper and paint. Our fabric walling creates a luxurious surface by meticulously stitching together the drops of fabric. This ensures precise pattern matching for a flawless appearance.

Our fabric walling technique creates a unified expanse of fabric, unlike the segmented look of wall panels or paper-backed fabrics.

Fabric walling also offers numerous practical advantages as well as looking beautiful. It can cleverly hide imperfections on wall surfaces and will create a polished look without extensive preparation.

Fabric walling has a rich history, with roots in medieval tapestries and Georgian interiors. Today, designers embrace it for its opulent feel and acoustic benefits. It can create a quieter, more intimate space with reduced echo and noise, even in rooms with high ceilings. Fabric walling can also subtly alter the existing lighting by adding warmth and depth to the space.

Fabric walling is suitable for various surfaces, including wallpaper, wood panelling or textured paint; our fabric walling provides a versatile solution for any interior. Experience the transformative power of fabric as it softens the room, creating a cosy and inviting space.

Choose from a large selection of upholstery fabrics from trusted names to create your desired look. Our expertise extends to numerous fabrics, including velvet, linen, wool, and cotton, in a wide array of colours, patterns, and textures.

While most fabrics are suitable, leather and suede work best in panel form. More recently, we have seen the rise in natural seagrasses and other sustainable materials being offered by the fabric houses. Whatever fabric you choose we can advise on the fire rating to make sure it complies with all uk regulations.

Depending on the method chosen, we either install a framework around the room to which we can attach the fabric. The space between the frame is then filled to create the softness required. Lastly, double piping or braid is used to finish the raw edges.

We are very proud to offer the more skilled and rare art form of invisible walling. This is where we use the ‘baguette’ system – hidden battens expertly fitted – so no attachment can be seen, and no braid is needed – where the fabric appears simply to float over the surface, it becomes the wall itself.

In both instances, we use the appropriate linings; sometimes, the thicker ‘bump’ fabric is needed, but whichever way, it often means that minimal wall preparation is necessary. We use lasers to hang the matched fabric drops perfectly and can then cut and shape the fabric precisely around mouldings, fireplaces and window frames.

You can elevate any room with the elegant touch of fabric walling. We’ve brought this exquisite finish to bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms, hallways, libraries, hotels, bars, and private clubs.

Because of the nature of fabric walling and the need to be on site, we can offer this service all around the UK.
