Banquettes

Banquettes, both inbuilt or with removable cushions have grown in popularity over the past few years as they are a great way to create a sylish but compact seating solution, possibly in a large open plan kitchen/diner but also within a small nook or window sill.

A kitchen banquette can add a much needed soft area in a room that is often all hard edged with metal appliances, it also allows for pattern and texture to be added.  Perfect for guests to sit and chat whilst you cook or for relaxed family evenings – the trend for a place of real comfort in one of the busiest rooms in the house is growing.

Often clients incorporate storage solutions into the design – either with drawers underneath or seats with lifting lids. If you are working with a designers or joiner, we ask that you share your drawings at the very start of a project as an upholsterers input can often be invaluable at this stage. There are a myriad of upholstery designs to choose from, we will discuss the rake of the back cushion and the height of the seat. We offer both fixed and loose cushion upholstery and the bench can be made with deep or floating buttons, a fluted back or plain with piped edges

We can also advise on the most suitable fabrics –  vinyl and leather are popular and practical choices for kitchen or areas of heavy use and some fabrics come with a stain-resistant technology for easy cleaning.
